Password-protect a PDF

A password to open it, and limits on what others may do.

Steps

  1. Open Document › Security.

    The Document menu, Security marked

  2. Document password: needed to open it. Permissions password: needed to change permissions.

  3. Click a permission to switch it off, then Apply.

    Permissions: Editing and Page assembly off; Apply

  4. Click Save. From then on, opening the PDF asks for its password.

    Opening it again: Fluah asks for the password
    Tip. Remove security, then Save, takes the passwords off.
